Type 2 arresters must be installed into sub-distribution boards after main distribution boards containing Type 1 arresters. For proper operation between Type 1 and Type 2 arresters, at least 10-15m cable or wire distance is required, otherwise a decoupling coil must be installed between the two devices. Multiple surge diverters installed in a cascaded approach should be used to ensure adequate facility protection.
